Often these people are among the top of the companies they work for during daytime. What can all these software companies learn from the open source world? This is one of the questions Freddie Van Rijswijk was trying to answer. This is why Freddie wrote The Gridshore Manifesto.

The roads in the Netherlands are becoming more crowded every year. Everyone seems to have a car and wants to drive in it to his/her work. Therefore more people try to find ways to be able to work at home. This leads to flexible work spaces at the office, less parking spaces, which leads to more people who want to work at home. Another thing is the internationalization of a lot of companies. We live in a 24 hour economy; we have collogues in The United States, India, The Netherlands, and all other European countries. We are looking for a way to make all this people work at the same project. This is not new, there are a lot of open source projects out there that prove it can work.
